I always feel a confliction in my gut when it comes to increasing wages, but this feeling should be put to rest in regards to laborers. There have been a plethora of studies that have shown when wages increase, costs do not increase, but instead work is completed in a safer environment and at faster speeds. If this is the case, why do unions for laborers have to fight so hard to receive proper wages? Dennis Martire is just the individual that fights for these workers and the issues they need ramified.
Dennis Martire is the Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager of the Laborers’ International Union of North America. In this role, he spends his time tirelessly working with Maryland officials that represent the Montgomery County area to help him to pass a prevailing wage law. This law would ensure that there would be fair wages for working families. These laws do a variety of good things for the workers in the union and Dennis Martire is ready to keep fighting for these families’ rights. Just because a project is owned by the government does not mean that workers should be allowed to be paid less. Dennis Martire has worked with the union for decades and uses his knowledge to defend the causes of these workers and make sure they are taken care of by the work that is being done with the Laborers’ International Union of North America.
